Archie to become TV series?

   The Archie Show, a cartoon produced by the famous american animation house, Filmation, only lasted one year (1968-1969). Having been born in 1970, I used to watch the show in syndication. I don’t have that many fond memories or any real nostalgia for the brand. Okay, I still dig the “Groovy Ghoulies” to a degree but, just like the 1990’s, we are going to reach a point of market-share saturation. I can only hope that the backlash against too many comic book franchise shows won’t take down the good, i.e. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the FLash, with the bad.


Last year FOX announced the development of a tv series based on comic property Archie.  The series was set to explore “the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.” Now, Deadline reports that the series is still in development, however it has found a new home at The CW, where executive producer Greg Berlanti’s “Arrow” and “The Flash” also reside:

“When Greg and I started talking about bringing these characters to life, our first thought was that the best home for them would be the CW,”Archie Comics’ chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tells the outlet. “It took a little longer for us to get there, but now that we’re here, it’s feeling terrific.”

Aguirre-Sacasa is set to pen the script for the pilot episode and is most well-known for writing the horror-inspired series “Afterlife with Archie” and “The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina.” In addition, he has written the scripts for…
