Revisiting Stargate: Atlantis

sga

So this evening Mrs. Multiverse and I are venturing back into the Pegasus galaxy with the international team of Stargate Atlantis. This was one of our favorite shows on the Sci-Fi channel, now SyFy. I hesitate in saying that it is our favorite Stargate of the three shows that bear that name, but it is. We didn’t watch the third series that much; I think we were a bit bitter over the decision to cancel Atlantis.

The chemistry, and camaraderie are the two biggest draws to the series for us. Those along with the perfect amount of humor make for a fun time. The characters are well fleshed out, and very likable. Being ahead of its time, Stargate Atlantis was a show where women not only lead, they kicked some serious ass. The antagonists, the Wraith, were a frightening foe that were basically alien vampires that lived in a hive-type society.

Well, back to watching the show!

Revisiting Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire

It’s been  years since I’ve watched this film. For some reason it doesn’t seem to get the same love as other Disney production. Today I found it on Netflix and decided to give it Atlantis_Milo_kida_productionanother viewing. I love the Steampunk aesthetic of the movie, along with the traditional
animation mixed with computer generated elements. Many well known voices lend their talent to this adventure, such as Jim Varney, Florence Stanley, James Garner, and the great Leonard Nimoy.

There is a sequel available, also on Netflix. Now I won’t expect too much as far as infamous direct to video sequels go, but I am pretty easy going and plan on enjoying it.

The Shows that, Currently, Drive Quantum Multiverse.

So here at Quantum Multiverse, as you might have discovered, we are geeks. As geeks we partake in geek media. No surprises there 😉 This is just a list of current shows, TV-YouTube-Netflix-Amazon Prime-ETC, that keep us going. There are movies, audio books/plays, Podcasts (& SMODcasts), Comics, Blog posts, Books, Toys, Games, and what-not that are also a factor. I may get to breaking those down at some point but this is a simple and easily digested post and a good place to begin.

Gallery: Superheroes Done Right

So there I was, again, searching through random image on Google when I came up with the idea to do a post about the WORST attempts at live action Superhero shows ever. Well, I found several lists along with images and the world has enough negative posts about everything.

I decided to post a few images of, what I feel to be, the best executions of  superhero(ish) characters to make it to the small screen. I won’t list (Green) Arrow, the Flash, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., or the bad-assness of Dare Devil, since they all go without saying that they are some of the best shows to date based on comic book material. So without further ado I bring you, in no particular order, my favorite heroes that can be found on television.

Aquaman, Trendsetter and Savior of Surfers

So Aquaman had this, very unpopular, redesign back in 1985. Why? I have no clue. It was such a radical change that there was no transition and no time for fans to get used to a new look. Apparently there was one thing that the King of Atlantis did get right… this new look was a great stealth suit for avoid sharks. Not that Arthur needed that since he commands all of the creatures in the oceans and waterways.

This leads us up to today. Now we have, courtesy of an Australian company, Wetsuits that create a camouflage effect when viewed by sharks. There are still some questions to be answered. Such as, do these things actually work? Shark attacks don’t happen with a regular frequency like movies would lead you to believe. Check out the article about these wetsuits on Wired.com: Will These Wetsuits Actually Deter Shark Attacks, or Just Encourage Them?

I may actually take up Surfing, if they work, of course 😉
