It’s no surprise that I watch a lot of Sci-Fi. Tonight I am watching an episode of Star Trek: Voyager that is focusing primarily on the character of Neelix. A Talaxian “Jack of all trades”, expertly portrayed by Ethan Phillips. It is actually the final episode that Neelix is in. I reflected on how the character has grown over the years and became an integral part of the crew. This character inspired me to create a Sci-Fi Dream Team. For my team I am going to be avoiding the easy choices such as Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker or Lt. Commander Worf and other absolute favorites of mine.
Who would you choose to man your ship or station, and at what position? You can be in command, part of the crew or just the geek who chooses the team. Any and all Sci-Fi/Fantasy is up for grabs, including TV, Movies, Old Radio, Books, Comics and Animation from any country. I went a bit nuts and took a while to flesh out my list. You don’t have to go into as many characters as I did 😉 The challenge here is to have fun!
There are a number of ships to choose from. All shapes and sizes from dozens of sources. I prefer small and fast ships. That rules out the Yamato/Argo (Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers), the Executor (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back) and the SDF1 (Macross/Robotech). Long story short, I choose the U.S.S. Defiant from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It would have to be a bit larger to accommodate my fighter squadron of Valkyries/Veritech Alpha Electronic Attack VE-6 Fighters from Mospeada/Robotech and perhaps a few dozen Space Marines too.
My crew roster:
Firefly: First Officer, Zoë Alleyne Washburne. (Captain of my U.S.S. Defiant)
Star Wars~Jedi Knight II: Jedi Master, Kyle Katarn (First Officer)
Crusade: Technomage, Galen (Science Officer)
Star Trek~The Next Generation: Guinan (Chief of Security)
Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato: Chief Hikozaemon Tokugawa (Chief Engineer)
Farscape: Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan (Chief Medical Officer)
Star Trek~The Next Generation: K’mtar, a future version of Alexander, son of Worf (Tactical Officer)
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial: E.T. (Communications Officer)
