This is incredible. Heck, it had better be with a price tag of $1380.00 [USD]! Click the image to be taken to the site. Make sure you check out ALL of the available photos of this piece. I guess the pre-order went well since they are all out of stock. Let’s just marvel at the wonderful detail while we try to forget the insane price tag, and not to mention the shipping cost of $440 [USD].

Macross Plus: VF-11 Thunderbolt

ramp

I’ve had this image of a VF-11 Thunderbolt backed up on a hard drive for nearly two decades. Once upon a time, I was a rabid fan for all things Macross. Animation, Toys, Art, and Music. Nothing was more impressive to me than the Valkyries, Veritechs to my fellow Robotech fans. Anyhow, I was browsing some of my hoarded images and ran across this one. For me, it encapsulates everything that is beautiful about these fighters. Let me see if I can dig up a few more for a mini gallery of my past passion.

Sunday Morning Super Dimension Fortress One Fun

skullattack.jpg

So it’s Sunday. Sunday’s used to be a dull day. Nothing to watch on TV, except the occasional b-roll cartoon like Galtar or some other show that just wasn’t cut out for Saturday mornings. While I do have a soft spot in my heart for even those shows, nothing compares to choosing what you want to see, when you want to see it. I have a hard drive full of content, a packed Netflix queue, Amazon Prime, and several shows I’ve purchased via my new happy place… Google Plus.

63f58bc6   Now down to it… I am having a great time screening Robotech on Netflix this morning. I have the series, but I really love streaming shows since they keep better track of where I left off than I can with my 47 year old memory banks. I am a huge fan of what Harmony Gold did with Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada. I find that Macross holds up really well, and it’s also in my library. I’ve never bothered to track down the other two series. Macross is my thing.

Back to Robotech. This show had a different feel than the normal cartoons of my youth. I was 14 when it came out, and perhaps it was the Sci-Fi action combined with the more adult drama that had me hooked. Don’t get me wrong, if t had Robots, heroes, or any sort of martial arts, I was all about whatever I was watching. Robotech came at the right time and had an interesting story arch, along with a heavy transforming robot style aesthetic.

UPDATE: While poking around on Amazon Prime, I found both Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada! Bonus 👍

Star Wars: TIE Fighter

Am I tardy to the party? Nope, but somebody brought this little gem back into my consciousness, today. This short film is some of the best Star Wars traditional animation that I’ve ever seen. It was uploaded to YouTube back in 2015, and has garnered over 6,742,808 views! OtaKing77077 is a master of his craft.

Sci-Fi Dream Team #Challenge

It’s no surprise that I watch a lot of Sci-Fi. Tonight I am watching an episode of Star Trek: Voyager that is focusing primarily on the character of Neelix. A Talaxian “Jack of all trades”, expertly portrayed by Ethan Phillips. It is actually the final episode that Neelix is in. I reflected on how the character has grown over the years and became an integral part of the crew. This character inspired me to create a Sci-Fi Dream Team. For my team I am going to be avoiding the easy choices such as Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker or Lt. Commander Worf and other absolute favorites of mine.

Who would you choose to man your ship or station, and at what position? You can be in command, part of the crew or just the geek who chooses the team.  Any and all Sci-Fi/Fantasy is up for grabs, including TV, Movies, Old Radio, Books, Comics and Animation from any country. I went a bit nuts and took a while to flesh out my list. You don’t have to go into as many characters as I did 😉 The challenge here is to have fun!

There are a number of ships to choose from. All shapes and sizes from dozens of sources. I prefer small and fast ships. That rules out the Yamato/Argo (Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers), the Executor (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back) and the SDF1 (Macross/Robotech). Long story short, I choose the U.S.S. Defiant from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It would have to be a bit larger to accommodate my fighter squadron of Valkyries/Veritech Alpha Electronic Attack VE-6 Fighters from Mospeada/Robotech and perhaps a few dozen Space Marines too.

My crew roster:

So there we have it. My Sci-Fi Dream Team crew roster. It may grow a bit in the new few weeks. If you decide to make one of your own, I would LOVE to see it. Leave a comment with a link to your list. If you don’t have a blog, use Pinterest since it is free and easy to use.
